C+C’s Intimate Wedding at Cockington Court

There’s something incredibly special about a wedding where every person in the room really matters.

C+C’s wedding at Cockington Court was the perfect example. An intimate celebration with just Charlotte’s daughters and the couple’s closest friends - five very special guests in total - it was relaxed, personal and completely full of love.

C+C’s story makes it even more special. Childhood friends who made their connection later in life, they discovered that perhaps the person they had been looking for had been there all along. Their wedding day felt like a beautiful celebration not just of their marriage, but of the journey that brought them back to one another.

There were plenty of emotional moments throughout the day, including a beautiful reading from Charlotte’s daughter. There was laughter too - lots of it - along with stories, memories and the kind of easy teasing that comes when everyone knows each other well.

And, of course, there were a few tears.

For me, these are the moments that make photographing an intimate wedding so special. With such a small group, there’s space to notice all the little things: a look between two people, a burst of laughter, someone wiping away a tear, or a spontaneous moment that nobody planned but that tells you everything about the day.

We headed into the rose garden at Cockington Court for photographs, making the most of this beautiful setting. There was no pressure for everything to be perfectly posed, just the two of them enjoying being newly married, surrounded by the people they love.

And then came the next part of their celebrations: a lovely lunch at The Drum Inn before the evening festivities began.

But we can’t forget the getaway car!

Their little Micra was absolutely decked out for the occasion, complete with tin cans trailing behind it; because sometimes the smallest details are the ones that make a wedding feel unmistakably yours.

What struck me most about C+C’s day was how much joy they packed into such a small gathering. Five guests might sound tiny compared with a traditional wedding, but there was certainly no shortage of laughter, stories, emotion or celebration.

And we really are incredibly lucky to have a registry office at Cockington Court. To be able to get married in such a beautiful historic setting, surrounded by gardens and countryside, makes it a wonderful choice for couples who want something intimate without compromising on atmosphere or beauty.

C+C’s wedding was a wonderful reminder that a wedding doesn’t have to be big to be unforgettable.

Sometimes, all you need is the person you love, the people who mean the most to you, a beautiful place - and perhaps a decorated Micra with a few tin cans trailing behind.
