Bold Blooms & English Charm: A Styled Wedding at Symondsbury Tithe Barn
Set in the heart of the Dorset countryside, nestled beneath the gaze of iconic Colmer’s Hill, Symondsbury Tithe Barn is a venue steeped in history—and on a sunny spring day, it became the perfect setting for a vibrant, floral-forward styled shoot full of colour, movement, and modern romantic energy.
This editorial concept, which I had the absolute joy of photographing under Blotted Ink Photography, was all about showcasing how bold styling, abundant blooms, and thoughtfully curated details can bring a timeless venue to life in a completely fresh and joyful way.
The Venue: History Meets Contemporary Romance
Built in the 14th century, Symondsbury Tithe Barn once served as a place to store crops and grain for the church. Today, it’s a gorgeously restored barn with high vaulted ceilings, warm oak beams, and light pouring through tall windows—an elegant canvas for creative couples dreaming of a countryside wedding with character.
Tucked away in the peaceful Symondsbury Estate just minutes from the Jurassic Coast, this venue combines rustic charm with modern comfort—making it a perfect choice for both large celebrations and intimate gatherings.
The Vision: Whimsical Florals & Bold Details
Inspired by painterly blooms and playful elegance, this shoot was designed to explore how vibrant colour and statement styling can transform a historic space into something that feels personal, modern, and full of joy. With florals by the incredibly talented Teazle and Bear, we embraced bold seasonal colour, from punchy pinks and soft peaches to vibrant greens and yellows.
The styling by Ambience South Devon brought everything together—combining whimsical florals with contemporary touches like ghost chairs, layered linens, and gold accents. It felt like walking into a romantic painting, where every detail was thoughtfully placed yet brimming with life.
The Details That Made It Magic
The Dress: Supplied by The Bridal Box, Torquay, our model wore a flowing gown with statement sleeves and delicate floral lace. Paired with a hand-embroidered veil and bow by Gabrielle Elizabeth Embroidery and dreamy accessories from The Lucky Sixpence, it was the perfect blend of tradition and personality.
Beauty: The incredible @brionys.beauty created a glowing, modern bridal look—effortless and fresh, with soft waves and a peachy pop of colour that tied beautifully into the florals. Briony also captured behind-the-scenes content throughout the day.
Stationery: Scribe Stationery crafted an elegant paper suite with textured edges, pressed florals, and thoughtful details—inviting guests into the theme from the very first impression.
The Cake: AT Cake Artistry created not only a gorgeous naked cake but also delicate floral tarts that looked (and tasted!) like edible art. Colourful, playful, and completely on-theme.
Furniture & Setup: Taddle Farm Tents provided the rustic tables and furniture that grounded the entire look—adding warmth, texture, and a nod to the venue’s rural roots.
The Model: The beautiful @solemniko brought so much grace and presence to the shoot—capturing the spirit of a modern bride embracing the beauty of tradition with a bold, expressive twist.
