An Intimate Bridport Wedding: T + F’s Colourful Ceremony, Lego Flowers & Pub Reception

Some weddings are beautiful because they follow tradition perfectly.
Others are beautiful because they throw the rulebook straight out of the window.

T + F’s intimate wedding in Bridport was absolutely the latter - a joyful, colourful, slightly chaotic celebration that felt completely, unapologetically them. And honestly? Those are always my favourite to photograph.

This wedding was also extra special for me because I wasn’t just their photographer; I was also their Best Woman, which meant I had the honour of juggling cameras, hugs, logistics, and delivering what I will confidently describe as an absolute baller of a speech. A dual role I would happily take on again for the right people.

Sustainable Style & Rainbow Hair

Right from the start, this wedding was about doing things intentionally.

The bride wore a stunning preloved wedding dress, proving once again that sustainable fashion doesn’t mean compromising on beauty. It suited her perfectly and felt completely aligned with the thoughtful, personal vibe of the day.

Instead of traditional florals, the couple chose something brilliantly quirky - Lego flowers. Yes, actual Lego. Playful, colourful, and guaranteed to last forever, they were such a perfect reflection of the couple’s personalities.

And speaking of colour… we had rainbow hair everywhere. Guests, wedding party, general joyful chaos — it was vibrant, expressive, and made for some seriously fun photos.

The Most Perfect Ring Bearer Entrance

Every wedding has a moment where everyone collectively smiles, and for this one it was the ring bearer.

My brother stepped into the role of maid of honour and ring bearer, and if you’ve ever seen him you’ll know he bears a suspicious resemblance to Frodo Baggins.

Naturally, this meant there was only one acceptable entrance song:
The Lord of the Rings theme.

He walked down with the ring hanging from a chain around his neck, fully committing to the moment. Honestly, it might be one of my favourite ring bearer moments of all time.

Ceremony & Millennium Gardens Shenanigans

The ceremony itself was intimate, heartfelt, and full of laughter - the kind where everyone present genuinely matters to the couple.

Afterwards we headed to the Millennium Gardens in Bridport for photos. Now, when I say we did photos, what I really mean is we messed around for a while and I occasionally took pictures.

There was very little posing, lots of laughter, and plenty of moments that perfectly captured the energy of the day: relaxed, joyful, and completely unfiltered.

Those are always the images that matter most.

A Wedding Procession Through Bridport

Instead of disappearing into cars or taxis, the entire wedding party did something brilliant.

We formed a procession through the main streets of Bridport, walking together through town towards the reception.

People waved. Strangers smiled. It felt like the whole town briefly became part of the celebration.

It was chaotic in the best possible way.

A Pub Reception Done Properly

The celebration finished at The Woodman pub, which the groom runs - making it the perfect, personal place to gather.

The food came from Soulshine Café, and it was every bit as good as you’d expect: comforting, flavourful, and exactly what everyone needed after a day of celebrating.

Dessert was covered by a talented friend who baked an incredible spread of goodies, because honestly the best weddings always involve talented friends pitching in.

And the soundtrack to the evening?

Heavy metal from Austin Road.

Because why not end the day exactly the way you want to?

A Wedding Completely Their Way

What I loved most about T + F’s wedding was how unapologetically personal it was.

There were no expectations to perform a “traditional” wedding. No pressure to follow a script. Just two people choosing what mattered to them and building a day around it.

Lego flowers.
Rainbow hair.
Lord of the Rings references.
A town-centre wedding procession.
A pub full of friends, good food, and loud music.

It was joyful, a little chaotic, deeply personal, and an absolute dream to photograph.

These are the weddings that remind me why I love this job so much.
